Tonight was our ward Christmas Party… somewhat! I guess maybe I was just grown up thinking that at a Christmas Party, especially a ward one, had some way of tying back to the Savior and his birth. Instead, our ward activities director decided that we were just going to have a nice dinner and an ugly Christmas sweater contest! Yipee!!!
I guess I shouldn’t be that hard on her, she could just be worn out from the other activities she’s been doing. Surprisingly, we had a good turn out when it came to the ugly sweater contest. At one point (if you look at the far left of the picture below) there was a little boy who got up wearing a brown sweater that Benjamin happened to be wearing that night 🙂 . I didn’t think it was anywhere NEAR that bad of a sweater. I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder. To a 10-year-old boy it probably is the ugliest sweater he’s ever seen 🙂 .
We did get about 5 minutes of pure Christmas joy when the Primary kids got up and sang a couple of their songs. It never ceases to amaze me how instantaneous their little spirits can infest those around them.
If it hadn’t been for their efforts and their little hearts being in the right place it probably would have taken me a lot longer to catch the holiday bug!
I hope that you all are able to take a moment for yourselves and your families before things get too out of control.
