Primary Program 2010

So, as I’m sure was the case for most of you, we have spent the last several months preparing for our Primary sacrament meeting presentation.

As one of my many bribes or enticements, if you will, I had prepared over 300 chocolate chip cookies if they did well in the program.  So for the past several months, every time they sang well or went above and beyond I would reward them with a 1/4 cup scoop of chocolate chips in a jar.  Likewise, if they didn’t perform well that week a 1/4 cup was taken out of the jar.  It became more affective the closer we got to our presentation date.

All this past week my wonderful mother baked and baked until she had over 200 cookies.  My week was slammed with therapy sessions and PTA meetings and presentation rehearsals so I didn’t have the time that I thought I would to bake.  I gathered up all the cookies and put them in this massive basket so that all the kids could grab a couple and pass it on.  The basket weighed over 40 pounds!

It was great being a part of the program, something that I have managed to miss out on even though I’ve been in the Primary for 10 years.

I’ve included out Primary script for future reference or inspirational purposes 😉

2010 Primary Program – I Know My Savior Lives

Sister Benites: This year the children in our Primary had the opportunity to learn to feel and understand the great love that our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for them. They have learned about the central role of Jesus Christ in our Heavenly Father’s plan, and they have learned they can have faith in Him. Each child’s faith can grow stronger as they keep the commandments, serve, share the gospel, follow the example of the Savior, and prepare for His Second Coming.

♫ “I Know That My Savior Loves Me”

♫ Alexie, Mcclain, Courtney: 1st Article of Faith: “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.”

Emma:  Heavenly Father is the Father of my spirit.

Talon: I lived with Heavenly Father before I came to earth.

Reagan: He is kind and loves all His children.

Zach: Heavenly Father sent us to live with our family on earth.

Caleb: He sent Jesus to be our Savior.

Kaya: Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Decker: Jesus is my older brother.

Peyton: We are all part of one big family, Heavenly Father’s family.

Alex: We are all brothers and sisters.

Jaden: I know that I am a child of God.

Savannah S: I know that my Savior lives.

Andrew: I love Jesus Christ and will follow him.

Evan: Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me.

Sister Roberts: The Sunbeams know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love them, here are some of the ways they know this truth.

Savannah B: I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me because…

Jackson: Jesus died for us

Craig: My family can be together forever

Isabelle: I can pray to Heavenly Father

Joseph: They gave me my heart and my mind

Ammon: They give me food to eat

Adlen: They gave us animals

Tarren: Jesus gives the children big hugs

Brianna: They gave me my family

Bryce: They know me

Anna: I am a Child of God

Katie: They answer my prayers

Abigail: They take care of us

♫ “He Sent His Son”

Chloe: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Allyson: Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

♫ Jarom: 3rd Article of Faith: “We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.”

Harrison: Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we all can be saved.

Emily: His Atonement makes it possible for us to repent and return to live with Heavenly Father again.

Annie: I am thankful for the Savior because he made it possible for me to repent and be forgiven.

Nikko: Jesus understands when we feel hurt, sick or afraid. He can help us feel better.

Justin:  Because Jesus Christ was resurrected, you and I will be too.

Josh: I will try to live like Jesus every day.

Ashlynn: Because Jesus can’t be here with us all the time, He has called special men called prophets to help lead and guide us.

Sydney: Prophets are called by God and they testify of Jesus Christ.

Oliver: Prophets lead the church by inspiration and revelation.

Kennedi: God speaks through prophets. I will follow the prophet.

Jayden: Luke 1:70 reads “He spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began.”

Chaz: We are blessed to have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to guide and direct us. As member of the church, we sustain President Monson as a prophet, seer and revelator.

Frankie: I can learn what President Monson wants us to know by listening to General Conference and reading the Friend magazine.

Willie: There is safety in following the prophet. If we follow the prophet we will never be lead astray.

Benjamin: Moses went to Pharaoh and told him that the Lord commanded that he should let the Israelites go.  Pharaoh knew nothing about God, and became very angry, and he treated the Israelites worse than before.

But Moses had faith in the Lord, and was able to perform miracles before the king, but the Pharaoh would not let the children of Israel go.

The Lord told Moses to turn the waters of the rivers into blood; and caused large numbers of frogs to run over the land and through the houses, doing great harm. He also commanded Moses to bring locusts and other insects to be a pest to the people, and cause many of the animals to grow sick and die.  Moses obeyed the Lord but Pharaoh would still not listen to him.

Because the Pharaoh wouldn’t obey the Lord, he sent more trouble.  This time the first-born of every family died.  The Israelites, who were constantly praying to the Lord and making sacrifices, were spared.

The Pharaoh was frightened into obeying God, and he finally let the Israelites go.

When the Israelites had reached the Red Sea, they found that Pharaoh was following them with a large army.  The Lord commanded Moses to stretch forth his rod over the sea.  He did so, and the waters parted, making a high wall upon either side, so that the children of Israel passed through and reached the other side in safety. Pharaoh and his followers tried to catch up but they were all drowned.

When the children of Israel saw that they were safe they prayed and thanked Heavenly Father for sending them a prophet to lead and guide them to safety.

♫ “Follow the Prophet”

Lydia: Joseph Smith was the first latter-day prophet. When Joseph Smith was a young boy he wanted to know which church he should join. He read in the Bible, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.” (James 1:5). Joseph Smith went to the woods to pray. He saw a pillar of light over his head. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. Heavenly Father pointed to Jesus Christ and said, “This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Nick: Joseph Smith was instructed not to join any of the churches, none of them were true. Not long after Jesus died, His gospel was taken from the earth and Jesus Christ restored the fullness of the gospel through Joseph Smith.

Rommel: To restore means put back together. Joseph Smith restored the true Church of Jesus Christ by translating the scriptures, receiving revelation, restoring the priesthood and ordinances, by becoming a prophet, and by sharing the gospel with others.

Mcclain: Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. He could not read the writing on the gold plates without the help of the Lord.

Kaden: I can share the gospel by being a good example and telling my friends what I believe about Jesus Christ.

♫ Hannah, Carter, Jarom, Brady: 6th Article of Faith: “We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.”

♫ “The Church of Jesus Christ”

Courtney: The principles and ordinances of the Gospel lead me to back Jesus Christ.

♫ Lydia, Kennadie, Raissa, Morgan, Rylee: 4th Article of Faith: “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Valiant 8
Elijah: My faith in Jesus Christ grows stronger when I obey and choose the right.

♫ “Faith”

Ronnie: Jesus Christ made it so I can repent when I do something wrong. To repent we need to feel sorry for what we did wrong, ask for forgiveness, right the wrong, and try really hard to not do it again.

Alexie: When we are baptized, we make a two-way promise with God called a covenant. We promise to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ, always remember Him, and to keep the commandments. If we do this then we can Have His Spirit to be with us and return to live with Him again.

Carter: (share your feelings about your baptism)

Zander: After we are baptized we are confirmed a member of this Church and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

♫ “The Holy Ghost”

Morgan: The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. He speaks in a still, small voice. The Holy Ghost can guide and protect us. He can help us make decisions, if we listen.

Kennadie: (share a time when you felt guided by the Holy Ghost)

Raissa: In Moroni 10:5 it reads, “By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things”. If we listen to the Holy Ghost he can help us follow Jesus.

Hannah: In the Book of Mormon we read about Lehi and his family. Heavenly Father led them to a new home in a choice land. Lehi received a marvelous gift from God, a round ball with two spindles that pointed the way they should go. This gift was called the Liahona. Nephi said the Liahona worked according to their faith and diligence. Lehi’s family learned to follow the directions of the Liahona. This is similar to the gift of the Holy Ghost. We can learn to follow the Holy Ghost. If we follow His promptings he can help us follow Jesus.

Valiant 9
Tyler: Jesus always obeys Heavenly Father. I can too by following Jesus’ example.

Ivan: Jesus taught that it is important to give thanks for blessing we receive. I m grateful for getting to live on the earth and getting to serve the Lord every Sunday.

Isabelle: Jesus gathered the children around Him so He could be with them and teach them. Jesus loved the people He was with and told us to love our family and neighbors.

Jarom: With the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught about loving others. A traveler was attacked by thieves and left to die. A priest and then a Levite saw the hurt man, but each of them passed by without helping. Finally, a Samaritan came by and stopped to help the man. He bandaged the man’s wounds and took him to an inn. The Samaritan left money with the innkeeper to help care for the man. This story shows us what it means to follow the commandment to love our neighbors.

Michael: Mosiah 2:17 reads, “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”

Preston: Jesus went about doing good and serving others.  I am trying to serve others too.

Valiant 10
Adam: Jesus said, “Come, follow me”. Because Jesus showed us how to live in this life, we can live with Heavenly Father again if we follow Him.

♫ “Come, Follow Me”

Sabrina: Jesus Christ is a God of miracles. A miracle is an extraordinary event caused by the power of God. Miracles show that Jesus has power over the earth.

Rylee: Jesus was sailing with his disciples across the Sea of Galilee. Jesus fell asleep and a great storm arose.  The wind blew and waves covered the ship.  Jesus’ disciples thought they were going to be killed so they awoke Jesus.  He arose and stopped the wind and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still!”  And there was a great calm.  When the storm ceased, the disciples were amazed and said, “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Andrew: Jesus can heal the sick.  Once when Jesus was traveling on his way to Jerusalem he met 10 lepers.  They cried unto him, saying “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”  He told them to show themselves to the priest. As they went to obey Jesus’ commandment, they were all cleansed.

Joe: Jesus has power over death. He brought people back to life and each of us will be resurrected.

Taylor: Miracles don’t make faith. Miracles come to those who have faith already. People who have faith can see miracles happen in their lives.

Kaia: In 2 Nephi 27:23 it reads, “For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; … and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith”.

Skye: I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he will come again!
