Feeding

We worked on the chewing appropriately and jaw strengthening.

Jacob used primarily one word sentences to communicate.  He imitated 2 word phrases when prompted.

Jacob needed verbal prompts to chew his food completely and take smaller bites.  He exhibited pocketing of food in his cheeks, but good jaw grading for biting and chewing.  It seems like we’ve reverted a little.  I guess that’s okay especially since his vocabulary has increased lately.  They say that a child this age will slow down or completely stop progression in other areas when they’re focusing on the development of another skill (like speaking).

I get to work with him on chewing the tube bilaterally 10-20 times each side about 3 times a day.  Hopefully with more practice he won’t fatigue so quickly!
