When it was fast Sunday, I did not know if I should fast or not. In order to know, I prayed. The Holy Ghost told me to fast. When we got home from church, I didn’t know that we skipped lunch also. The Holy Ghost made it easy to fast that day. By asking for the Spirit, I had a good fasting experience.
In addition to fasting, reading the scriptures can help us to feel the Spirit too. In our family scripture reading this week, we read, “Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and He will direct thee for good…” That means that by doing things that counsel with the Lord like saying prayers and reading scriptures, He will direct me by the Spirit. This week I wrote a list of things that I do a lot of and I don’t do a lot of. I noticed that I do a lot of things that do not invite the Spirit. That does not mean that we shouldn’t go outside or play games or exercise. But there are some things that we should do every day to make sure that we keep the Spirit in our lives. For example, we should read some of the scriptures every day and say our prayers every day. One of my favorite things is in the car, my mom puts on the Articles of Faith songs. That helps me to learn them so that when I have to make a choice, the Spirit helps me remember an Article of Faith or a scripture and it helps me choose the right.
With school starting next week, it will be very important to have the Spirit in our lives. I will wear my CTR ring, choose good friends, and be helpful. Doing these things and with prayer and scripture reading every day will fill my life with the Spirit.
I’m thankful for the Spirit, and I’m thankful for Jesus Christ. I’m thankful for the Atonement.
I know these things are true. BEAR YOUR TESTIMONY!
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
